diet rite

Daisy is on a diet...she was only supposed to be maybe 9 lbs then the vet said 11 lbs was ok. Last night she weighed 15 lbs. We love her to death and can't imagine all the bad things that could happen to her being this overweight. So, the food is up on the counter, and the little thing can't jump up there. Her bowl is empty, and she is just pacing around following the big can openers(us) hoping for an early dinner. I feel so bad. I was never one for tough love. But, the payback for her torture is that our quads are gonna shrink. Supposedly, there is a very popular theory floating around in bella land that human quads and their pet's bellys are proportional to each other.

This is a big Minnie who lost all that weight on his own without a diet. I kind of miss the big Minnie, but he's healtier at his weight now.

And for those who want to know, my quads were bigger when Minnie was larger!

Ack! Those cats are so fat. Our Kuku is headed there. But right now, she is only belly fat, not face fat.

Emma is now Kuku?

...she looked pretty lean in Carson...I think Daisy eats because she is nervous...

I wonder how Minnie got that face fat...Daisy is just big in the belly right now and not the face

day one is the hardest. after the first week, she'll be into her new habit. Julie (my dog) is supposed to be between 10 and 18 pounds (breed standard). well, I got a big girl. she's 25 pounds but very lean (and long). but I realized I was feeding her way too much, so I cut it down. eventually she adjusted and quit sitting in the kitchen staring at the food canister.

now you guys are cracking me up...
I'm going back to the kitty porn site.

Do male cats get beer bellies?

I think you should get a cougar for a pet. Just think of the quads!

I'm thinking of a pot bellied pig myself

Wow! That's getting pretty big. We took over care of a cat named Xerox (damn yuppies named him!) when I was a kid. The cat weighed 18lbs. When he tried to jump over the fence, he would sometimes get caught hanging front over one side and back over the other resting on the adipose tissue. He would moan like he was prowling for a lady in heat until one of us would come and dislodge him.

Good luck with the diet!

TB is fat no matter how much we reduce his food -- he just moves that much less for each kibble that isn't in his bowl. Last time he went to the vet they had to bring him into the back room to use the dog scale. I'm afraid to take him again. Maybe he and Daisy can team up for some kittierobics...

pet food's probably changed over the years...now it's got more fillers that are fattening to cats...

try some organic cat food maybe?

are cats weight conscious? do they get depressed about their weight?
